Game Story
High Point Stuns Wisconsin, Earns 83-82 Upset
The 12-seed Panthers knocked off fifth-seeded Wisconsin 83-82, with 13 offensive rebounds proving to be the decisive margin in a game the Badgers never fully controlled.
Rob Martin ran the High Point offense with precision, finishing with 23 points, 10 assists, and just one turnover on 9-of-23 shooting, including 4-of-10 from three. He consistently pushed the pace in transition and found cutters before the Wisconsin defense could rotate, making him effectively unguardable not because of one move but because of his decisions.
Terry Anderson gave High Point the second-chance engine this game required, posting 15 points and 11 rebounds, five of them offensive, on 7-of-15 shooting. His activity on the glass directly generated extra possessions in the second half, when High Point outscored Wisconsin 44-41 to flip a two-point deficit into a one-point win.
High Point's 13 offensive rebounds against Wisconsin's 6 is the number that explains this result more than any other: the Panthers attempted 74 field goals to Wisconsin's 65, neutralizing Wisconsin's superior shooting efficiency (47.7% to 41.9%) and free throw accuracy (91.7% to 66.7%). Wisconsin also committed 10 turnovers to High Point's 6, surrendering four more possessions they could not afford to give away in a one-point game.
