Sandfort Shells Troy, Nebraska Cruises Into Round of 32
Pryce Sandfort's seven-three barrage set the tone early, and Nebraska's turnover machine finished Troy off in a 76-47 rout that was never close.
Sandfort finished with 23 points on 7-of-12 from three, and Troy had no workable answer for him all night. He was active off the ball, found clean looks in catch-and-shoot situations, and converted at a rate that made Nebraska's offense look efficient even when Frager went 2-of-10 from deep.
Jamarques Lawrence added 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting in just 24 minutes, and the two-headed backcourt of Lawrence and Frager combined for seven assists against zero turnovers. Frager's shooting numbers were ugly, but his four assists and two steals kept him a net positive even on an off night from the arc.
Troy turned it over 17 times against Nebraska's nine steals, and those possessions directly fed a second-chance operation that outrebounded the Trojans 13-to-9 on the offensive glass. Victor Valdes' 14 points were real, but his five turnovers encapsulate how Troy's primary playmakers kept gifting Nebraska easy transition opportunities rather than running their own sets. Nebraska, even without injured guard Connor Essegian, had more than enough to handle a team that shot 28.3 percent from the field.
