Lipsey's Heist: Iowa State Dismantles Kentucky in Second Half
Tamin Lipsey's 26-point, 10-assist, five-steal performance powered Iowa State to an 82-63 win, as the Cyclones turned a turnover advantage into a 19-point rout.
Lipsey was the engine of everything Iowa State did. He finished with 26 points, 10 assists, and five steals on 8-of-15 shooting, and his ability to create off penetration while manufacturing turnovers on the other end gave the Cyclones a second-half that was simply not competitive -- Iowa State outscored Kentucky 51-33 after the break.
Milan Momcilovic was the necessary complement, hitting four threes and scoring 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting, giving Iowa State a second reliable perimeter threat that prevented Kentucky from keying entirely on Lipsey. When defenses tilted toward Lipsey, Momcilovic made them pay.
The game turned on turnovers: Kentucky coughed it up 20 times against Iowa State's 7, and the Cyclones converted that margin into a lopsided possession count that their shooting efficiency could sustain. Denzel Aberdeen and Otega Oweh combined for 38 points but also eight turnovers, and with Jaland Lowe, Jayden Quaintance, and Braydon Hawthorne all unavailable, Kentucky had no one in reserve to stabilize the offense when Iowa State's pressure mounted in the second half.
