Carr and Fears Steer Spartans Past Louisville
Michigan State eliminated Louisville 77-69, with Coen Carr's double-double and Jeremy Fears Jr.'s 15 assists running an offense Louisville simply could not contain.
Coen Carr finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting, adding two blocks for good measure. He was efficient in every direction: attacking the rim, cleaning up misses, and protecting it on the other end, all while logging 33 minutes against a Louisville defense that had no reliable answer for him.
Jeremy Fears Jr. did not shoot it well -- 3-of-13 from the field -- but his 15 assists against just five turnovers kept Michigan State's offense humming regardless. Trey Fort came off the bench and went 3-of-5 from three in 19 minutes, a punch of spacing that prevented Louisville from loading up on Carr.
Michigan State won the rebounding battle 39-32 and held a 21-to-16 edge in assists, reflecting a team playing with genuine structural advantages rather than individual hot streaks. Louisville's Ryan Conwell (21 points, 5-of-10 from three) and Adrian Wooley (17 points, 7-of-10 from the field) gave the Cardinals a credible offensive attack, but the absence of Mikel Brown Jr., who was averaging 18.2 points per game before a back injury ended his postseason, left Louisville too thin to sustain any real second-half push.
