Iowa Shoots Nebraska Out of the Bracket
No. 9 Iowa eliminated No. 4 Nebraska 77-71, burying the Cornhuskers with a 51.9% shooting night that Nebraska's 12 offensive rebounds could never fully offset.
Alvaro Folgueiras was the most efficient player on the floor: 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three, with three steals that directly disrupted Nebraska's half-court sets. He never forced a shot, never needed a second look, and Iowa went plus on possessions every time he touched it.
Tate Sage complemented him with range and rebounding, hitting 4-of-7 from three while pulling down seven boards, two on the offensive glass. Bennett Stirtz provided the volume scoring -- 20 points, 40 minutes, a 3-of-9 night from deep that Iowa could absorb because Sage and Folgueiras were picking up the slack.
The story on the other side was Rienk Mast going 4-of-15 from the field and 0-of-7 from three, a shooting performance that forced Nebraska to lean on two guards to generate offense in the second half. Nebraska's 12 offensive rebounds were the clearest sign they were fighting for second chances rather than clean looks, and Iowa's five-turnover night against Nebraska's ten made the math clean by the end of forty minutes.
